ISQ Certification - gas networks contractors and welders

This training course gives access to the Portuguese certifications and license of Gas Networks Contractor, and Copper and Polyethylene Piping Welder. Participants will be able to: Design gas networks, in accordance with the legislation, and to identify the assorted equipment and accessories in a network Perform welds in copper and polyethylene and to assess its quality Within the scope of this course, it is possible to design specific modules taking into account the areas the participant wishes to be granted accreditation in: Gas contractor Participants will acquire knowledge about: Legislation related to gas networks Utilisation of different type of networks Correctly perform the installation of a gas network under guidance of a gas senior technician Gas welder Participants will be able to perform welds in copper and polyethylene and to further assess its quality. Copper Participants will be able to master the methods of copper welding, handling of copper pipes and fittings and will know what the criteria for acceptance of welding are and will know how to correctly perform welds in copper piping. Polyethylene Participants will be able to know welding methods in polyethylene (butt weld and electro-weld), handling and storage of pipes and fittings in polyethylene and will have sufficient knowledge on criteria of  welding acceptance and will be able to correctly perform welding in polyethylene piping.

Remnant life assessment (RLA)

Remnant life assessment of industrial equipment is an approach developed in Europe in the 1990s and adopted by ISQ since then. This approach focuses on qualitative and quantitative methodologies with a view to estimate as precisely as possible the remaining life of equipment subject to cumulative degradation, including fluency, corrosion, fatigue (high and low cycle) and erosion, among others. With this technology new techniques were developed to estimate the remaining useful life using calculation methods and metallurgic indicators on the progress of degradation and damage to the material. ISQ, as pioneering entity in the use of this technology, has the added capacity to provide services by using different techniques and calculations methods to estimate the remaining useful life. The application of this technology requires deep knowledge of the mechanisms of degradation and its evolution on different materials according to the operating conditions equipment is submitted to. This technology is applied essentially to pressure equipment and subjected to high temperatures, e.g. equipment in the energy, oil & gas, pulp and paper industries, among others. This service may be provided separately under consultancy or integrated in projects of extension of useful life of equipment.

Cathodic protection

ISQ offers inspection, auditing services and monitoring of cathodic protection systems for the mitigation of corrosion on underground or submerged structures. ISQ adopted an effective and accurate approach to performance and control of these systems. Economically feasible, it reduces repairs costs and allows for early diagnosis. We use remote monitoring and control technology which does not require regular on-site visits to assess the existence of interference and further enables early detection of faults and malfunctions, thus saving time and resources. ISQ offers cathodic protection modeling to make a local diagnosis of the level of protection as well as assessment of eventual changes to the system such as introduction of localized damages to coating, interference with other structures, estimating the condition of perishable components of the system - coating and/or anodes, enabling an effective and appropriate corrective action.
